The Operator, as they appear in IN DEV, SNOWED IN, RENDER DREAM and LINK ROT

Operator dens are secret stages accessed through the main levels, containing if not created by a mysterious neutral entity known as The Operator, completing them all in one run is essential to obtaining the True Ending. There are four operator dens in total.

There is an entity present in all 4 of the Operator's Den. Being The Operator.

IN_DEV[]

Main page: IN_DEV

The first den, titled "IN_DEV," can be accessed through Endless Office by inputting 5107 (found on a note on a wall) into the hidden computer and entering the nearby exit that opens from doing so.

It bears resemblance to that of a map in a Source Engine game with things such as the default orange size reference texture and has a faint buzzing ambience. The den begins at a staircase, before proceeding down onto a long walkway, taking a 90 degree turn before continuing further. Eventually the player will reach a tree located in a small grassy area, they can interact with the tree to eventually knock down an eye, which can be picked up and carried to a slot at the end of a walkway on the opposite side to open a door, proceeding through the door will lead to a narrower walkway, before finally descending to a series of floating platforms, the player can fall onto the operator sprite to beat the den, teleporting them to Overtime.

SNOWED_IN[]

Main page: SNOWED_IN

The second den, titled "SNOWED_IN," can be accessed through It's Too Much through a hidden door after activating every lightswitch, the player must enter "6" on the computer's run menu (6 being the number of light switches needed to be pressed), this will open another door leading to a cramped room with a window and a chair, approach the window to enter the second den.

The second den resembles a flat rocky landscape, the player should wander until they find tracks, which will lead towards a gas station like area that has the operator nearby, touching the operator will beat the den, leading to Great Deals.

RENDER_DREAM[]

Main page: RENDER_DREAM

The third den, titled "RENDER_DREAM," can be accessed through Closing Day by moving the elevator adjacent to the opening elevator (by powering the battery slot labeled "Elevator 01" behind a filing cabinet, this does not need to stay powered) and solving a basic puzzle involving battery slots and binary, if the correct slots are powered, a gate will open in the area under the elevator shaft after pressing a button next to it. This will lead a room with a computer and a radio, tuning the radio to the right channel will cause it to play a code (the code itself is currently very quiet), inputting the code (631463147178717) into the run menu of the nearby computer will open the exit to the third operator den

The den appears to be a vast ocean with a grey pillar sticking out, despite the sun being very bright, the skies are darkly overcast, floating futuristic platforms with simple geometry towering overhead, the player has very high jump height in this level, which is needed to go between platforms, the operator looms overhead (initially out of render distance)

LINK_ROT[]

Main page: LINK ROT

The fourth den, titled "LINK_ROT," can be accessed through Natura by finding a passage underneath a fallen canvas, and by entering the code that's based on numbers from lowest to highest, the code is numbers of the turned off pipes inputting the code (471011) into the run menu of the nearby computer will open the exit in a long dark hallway to the fourth operator den.

Trivia[]

  • The operator is not actually the exittrigger, but instead a separate object placed directly into the exittrigger.
  • These are considered punishments within the naming of the game (P_1 - P_4_ITM)
  • P_3 was scrapped and was supposed to be a "pixelated autumn dreamscape thing"
  • "The similarity between them and punishment stages is that they're "not real" (or even more not real)" it's why they're even more obscure the monitor with eyes you see at the end of each one is The Operator so the 3 i guess you could say powers of TTB's backrooms are The Operator, The Advisor, and The Speaker" -Kord_K
