Overview[]
Friend is what seems to be a humanoid that would previously be encountered in stages PUNISHMENT_STAGE - FEVER, PUNISHMENT STAGE - CATACOMBS, Last Thoughts and 4/4 Bad Ending.
Friend first appeared in PUNISHMENT_STAGE - FEVER, you can find friend first by finding a no-clippable wall that will be darker than other walls. When you go through this wall, you will go through many doors before running into a dead end and seeing a silhouette of Friend at the end before disappearing. Then, when you go back, you will open a door and then see Friend, while also hearing a noise from the old DOS virus "CMOSDEAD". Friend would then "send" you to Stage 3, and give you the "Continuous Surveillance" badge if you haven't already achieved it.
Friend will also appear if you fail PUNISHMENT STAGE - CATACOMBS, which can be achieved by letting the 6 minute timer run out. You will then be transported into a dark room with Friends face (This version of friend looks different and is also confirmed to be a separate). Then you will be rewarded with the "Some Kind of End" badge if you haven't already achieved it. You will be sent back to the main stage.
Friend was also found in Last Thoughts, in a flashback you will have were Friend will appear to be peaking around the corner. You will then wake up and then the “Hatman" will appear above you and then dissolve into the same black liquid which is found in the stage 0 PUNISHMENT_STAGE - BRIDGE teleporter. You will then be rewarded with the "Has Anyone Dreamt of Dying Here?" badge if you haven't already achieved it.
The last time Friend was found is in the hallway that you are teleported to after activating the Bad Ending and after completing Eternal Lounge during 4/4. Friend will jumpscare you and then disappear in a cloud of black liquid, awarding The Inevitable End badge.
Kord_K (the creator), has said that the Catacomb Friend is not an ally nor an enemy. And stated :
Similarly to the speaker they're not really your ally but they're not your enemy either
They just don't want you to be there So they take you back And yeah, they're native to the catacombs
Fever friend's intentions are unconfirmed.
Friend is more of a species than a single entity, As Kord_K has stated that the one you meet in the catacombs is not the one you meet in fever.
Friend has no gender and is referred to as an "It".
